Core Session Times:

Monday 9.00am – 12.00pm and 12.00pm – 3.00pm
Tuesday 9.00am – 12.00pm and 12.00pm – 3.00pm
Wednesday 9.00am – 12.00pm and 12.00pm – 3.00pm
Thursday 9.00am – 12.00pm
Friday 9.00am – 12.00pm

We also offer the option for those children that would like to remain for lunch on a Monday, Tuesday, and Wednesday, but not stay for the full afternoon session, to stay on for an extra hour to eat their lunch with the others from 12-1pm.

This gives a total of 24 hours per week that can be claimed via either the Universal 15 hours Free Entitlement for 3 and 4 year olds, or the Extended 30 hours Childcare for working parents of 3 and 4 year olds. Funding is sometimes available for 2 year olds. Information about fees and funding can be found here:

Extended Hours – Early Drop-Off / Late Pick-Up

Although not running at present, if there is sufficient demand we can offer optional 8.30am early drop-offs and 3.30pm late pick-ups. Early drop-offs are available on Mondays, Tuesdays, Wednesdays, and Fridays, plus Thursday mornings when sessions are held at Tansor Village Hall (i.e. November – April).

Late pick-ups are available on Mondays, Tuesdays, and Wednesdays, at the end of the afternoon session.

We require parents who want to make use of these extended hours to sign up in advance per term, as they will only be run if there is sufficient demand, though we may be able to consider ad-hoc attendance in exceptional circumstances.

Please contact us if you would like to take advantage of these longer hours. Extended hours cannot be included within a child’s funded hours.

Thursday morning outdoor sessions

From after Easter until the October half term, our Thursday morning sessions are relocated to our dedicated woodland classroom near Glapthorn. This site is hosted by the Wildlife Trust at Glapthorn Cow Pasture Nature Reserve.
Places at these outdoor sessions are currently only available to children aged 3yrs+. Children under 3yrs of age are however very welcome to attend Thursday morning sessions when they are relocated back to Tansor Village Hall from the October half-term until the following Easter. For more information about our Thursday woodland sessions please take a look here.

Preparing for School

Ultimately, everything that you child encounters at Tansor is aimed at preparing for their transition to school. Our experienced team ensure that activities are appropriate to each child’s individual development. As children approach school age we will gently introduce them to the routines that they will encounter when they start school. This will involve more formalised learning based on the Early Years Foundation Stage framework. We work collaboratively with parents and carers to ensure that your child is supported in their learning.

Drinks and Snacks

Drinks and healthy snacks are provided at all sessions halfway through both morning and afternoon sessions. As an example, this is usually a breadstick and fruit. Children bring their own water bottles to access as and when they need a drink. Children attending an afternoon or lunch session will need to bring a packed lunch with them from home to eat at the start of the session at 12 noon. We do not have the facilities to store lunches in a fridge, therefore request that parents place an ice pack or similar in lunchboxes to keep food fresh. We have a strict no nut policy for lunches due to possible allergies in the Playgroup.
