About Us

The playgroup is situated in the beautiful village of Tansor, near Oundle.

The village hall offers a traditional feel, whilst the leader, Alex Baird (Early Years Professional Status) offers a fun and friendly setting for children aged 2 to starting school. The village hall has an extensive outdoor area to both the front and rear of the building which is heavily utilised by the children when present. The garden to the rear of the village hall comprises a purpose-built maze, pirate ship, balancing logs, large wendy house and wooden tables and chairs.

We follow the Early Years Foundation Stage curriculum (2012). This is a single framework for care, learning and development for children in all registered early years settings and schools from birth to the end of reception class (the academic year in which the child turns five). We look at the seven areas of learning in each child which are:

Communication and language
Physical development
Personal, social and emotional development
Literacy
Mathematics
Understanding the world
Expressive arts and design.
Each child is assigned a key person who is responsible for monitoring the progress of that child in each of these seven areas.

On leaving Tansor, children feed into all the local primary and independent schools including: Glapthorn Primary School, Laxton Junior School, Polebrook Primary School, Elton Primary School and Warmington Primary School all of which we have established strong links with.

We are a member of the Pre-School Learning Alliance which ensures we are constantly in touch with new thinking in the field of child education and care. The Alliance produces regular publications and runs courses which are open to staff and parents.
